Keyword: Aunt Dee Dee's Kitchen, mini crock pot, tomato soup
Servings: 4
Author: Wendy Perry

Ingredients

  • 1 28-ounce can petite diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup-ish salsa yours or store bought
  • 1 cup-ish broth (any will do... i had pork on hand but usually use chicken)
  • 1 8-ounce can creamed corn
  • 3 tablespoons Aunt Dee Dee's Kitchen Hot Dog Chili Seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • couple shakes Texas Pete
  • Garnish ideas: chopped onion, sour cream, Mexican crema, cheese, croutons, cilantro

Instructions

  • Heat all in crock pot on high for about 2 hours and eat!

Notes

Throw together in mini-crock (or big one if you double or triple recipe for more servings!) while fixing breakfast... crank up on HIGH and have ready by lunchtime.
OR, cook on low overnight while sleeping or while at work.  (This is good for breakfast too.)
If preferred, puree in blender or with immersion blender.
Perfect alongside a crispy gooey grilled cheese sandwich.

  1. This tomato soup recipe looks fantastic. I’ve been testing my mouse setup lately while cooking, and it made me realize how important it is to have a responsive device in the kitchen—especially when timing recipes or following steps online. The slow-cooker approach is great for hands-off cooking. Thanks for sharing the details about home-based food permits in North Carolina; that’s really helpful information for anyone considering starting a food business.

…simply tomato soup

There are few things as comforting as a bowl of “simply tomato soup.”  Recipes can be found of assorted varieties.  All over the tomato soup map.  For me, I don’t care for anything fancy… and many are too heavy on the basil for me.  It’s ok, but not a big fan, and a little basil goes a longggg way. Tomato soup need not be fussy… just tomato soup.
